Research Interests
Nanophotonics

In the direction of Nanophotonics, we mainly study the interaction between electromagnetic waves and matter at nanoscale (deep subwavelength scale), which mainly covers the research of metasurfaces and metamaterials, photonic crystals and integrated optoelectronic devices. In terms of metasurfaces and metamaterial, we mainly explore the interaction between light and metals or dielectric materials. In details, by means of numerical simulations and experimental tests, the metal or dielectric optical antennas are arranged in subwavelength scales according to certain rules. The above proposed strategy can be rationally constructed the “artificial materials” with arbitrary adjustment of the equivalent permittivity and permeability, which can achieve arbitrary modulation of electromagnetic wave properties (amplitude, phase, polarization state, etc.). Such metasurfaces and metamaterials have been used in many fields including multi-dimensional optical field detection, augmented reality (AR) and target recognition. In terms of photonic crystal, we mainly explore the construction of topological photonic systems and the regulation of optical topological states. Furthermore, we are also committed to the research of new high-performance integrated optoelectronic devices that can be used in many fields such as photovoltaic, optoelectronic detection, recognition and communication. In order to adapt to the trend of miniaturization, integration and multi-function of optoelectronic devices, the factors to improve device performance are explored from the perspectives of micro-nano optics, material synthesis and ultra-fast dynamics.
